Crane
Park Island Nature Reserve and the Shot Tower nature and visitor centre
is situated in Crane Park, Whitton.
Access:
By car - see map. Ellerman Avenue can be
reached from Powder Mill Lane via Cheyne Avenue. There is ample unrestricted
parking on Ellerman Avenue. The nature reserve can be reached by entering
Crane Park opposite the junction of Ellerman Avenue and Sheringham Avenue
and following the signs to the nature reserve once you are in the park.
By bicycle: Crane Park has an excellent
cycle path that runs from the Meadway in Twickenham as far as the Hanworth
Road, Hounslow. The Shot Tower and nature reserve can be found along
its route, which is very attractive and follows the River Crane.
On foot - as above.
By public transport:
Rail - BR to Whitton. Turn left out of the station and walk along
Percy Road as far as the traffic lights at the junction of Hospital
Bridge Road. Cross the road and turn left heading towards the A316.
As the road curves to the right there is an entrance into Crane Park.
Follow the path heading up river and you will arrive at the Shot Tower
and nature reserve.
Underground - To Richmond, then H22 bus
to Hospital Bridge Road ( St Augustines Church) then instructions as
above. Bus 110 will take you to Powder Mill Lane, then see map.
The nature reserve has a well laid wheelchair path
