The
Project's annual tree dressing ceremonies is always held in the first
week of December to celebrate National Tree Week. It is an ancient ceremony
revived in recent years to help highlight the importance of trees in
our lives.

We are pleased to announce the success of a funding bid that will ensure
all work on the Shot Tower Nature and Visitor Centre will be complete
next year. The first phase of the work is now complete. This has involved
the refurbishment of the old building, installation of new floors and
staircases and an observation platform at the top of the tower and at
the very top of the tower a facsimile of the old belfry has been reinstated.
- including a ringing bell.
The next phase of work will include installation of high quality interpretation
and display material as well as fitting out of office and classroom
spaces.

local community in the future.

willow artist Gwenda Mark demonstrates her art to visitors at an autumn
open day.
Access improvements-
2003 will see the installation of a disabled ramp down to the riverside.
Seating is planned for the 'dipping platform' and improvements are to
be made to the existing gate. A new pond is to be established in a characteristically
sunny spot close to the riverside path.
A new welcoming gate and signs are also to be installed.

Visitors
enjoy a guided walk looking at wetlands in summer.

Marsh
marigolds and damselflies will both benefit from the creation of a new
pond.
