Education
Other
habitats, offer further opportunity for study: The Project can provide a teaching pack with a full range of worksheets to help support Key Stage 1 and 2 visits. We welcome organised school visits and encourage teachers to meet with staff on-site to discuss their needs. There is classroom space within the old Shot tower where follow up work can be carried out. There are toilet and hand washing facilities within the building as well as storage for coats and bags. We are happy to discuss any specific needs you may have and also welcome students who may wish to make the nature reserve a focus of study. If students are interested in species monitoring on the reserve we are always happy to hear from them and offer our support.
The River Crane at Crane Park Island Nature reserve offers a safe environment in which students can carry out river studies.
The river is accessible for wheelchairs - the Project welcomes people of all abilities to join in their activities.
The bullhead fish or Millers thumb is an indication of the high quality ,pollution free state of the River Crane in the vicinity of Crane Park Island.
New
for 2003 !
The River of Life interactive role play game will be available for schools use in the summer of 2003. It's a fun way for children to learn about the impact humankind can have on the river environment and what they can do to help! Please contact us for further information about our educational opportunities. Informal education is an important part of our work too, Our summer holiday art activity sessions 'Art Goes Wild 'give children the chance to appreciate nature at first hand in a fun and creative way.
Children had fun making masks during summer holiday activity sessions at the nature reserve. We plan to extend the opportunity to be creative in the lovely natural surroundings of Crane Park island to adults too, please contact us if you are interested in joining an informal art group that will meet at the island on a regular basis. |
